Hometown Hero in 2013 and 2015. At UNC, she

April 4, 2017. Williams worked in environmental
science with several state agencies. She also taught
dance, yoga and senior fitness in her community.

(’ 86 BA) of Charlotte, Lawrence Lewis Gray (’ 86
BA) of Richmond, Va., Suzanne Hooper King (’ 86
BSBA) of Washington, D.C., and Glenna Burress
Patton (’ 86 ABJO) of Menlo Park, Calif., have been
appointed to the UNC Board of Visitors. Dooley
is the chief strategy officer for CBI, a specialist in
workplace consulting and office space planning. Gray
is chair and CEO of GrayCo, a real estate investment
firm. King is the partner in charge of limited partner
relations and marketing activities for New Enterprise
Associates. Patton is the founder and CEO of
Sicksports, a social media provider of youth-targeted
news about sports and sports culture.
obituary Harry Lawrence Latham III (’ 86
MBA), 55, of Chicago; April 4, 2017. Latham was
a longtime executive in the marketing industry.
His roles included senior level marketing and
management positions with Nabisco Foods

(’ 87 BA) of Charlotte and Joseph Bonavita “Bo”
Dempster Jr. (’ 87 ABJO) of Raleigh have been
appointed to the UNC Board of Visitors. Adzema
is executive vice president and CFO at Cousins
Properties. Dempster is a lawyer and managing
partner at Poyner Spruill. ◆ Theodore Schimpf
Ridgway (’ 87 BA) of Washington, D.C., has been
named CFO for Canvas Solutions, a mobile platform
for business automation with an app that works on
smartphones and tablets. Ridgway joins Canvas
after serving as CFO/COO at Kit Check, a hospital
pharmacy kit restocking system.

ABJO), 51, of Martinsville, Va.; May 18, 2017.
Walsh worked in advertising, most recently as
vice president of media and financial systems

Barbara Jean Williams (’ 87 BA), 54, of Wilson;
March 29, 2017. Williams was a Spanish educator,
teaching at Johnson Community College in
Smithfield and at Morehouse College in Atlanta. She
also briefly worked for UNC. She began her career
as a first-grade Spanish teacher.
