Safety and Health, part of the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, where he works on tools for

2014 updates M.L. Rio (’ 14 BA) of
London has published her debut thriller novel, If
We Were Villains. The book follows the efforts of a
detective to team up with a man recently released
from prison to find out the truth about a 10-year-
old crime at a highly competitive acting school. In
2016, while at King’s College in London pursuing
her master’s degree in Shakespeare studies in a
joint program with the Globe Theatre, Rio won a
contest to stay overnight at Denmark’s Kronborg
Castle, the model for Elsinore in Hamlet, for the

is stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base, writes
about the unexpected surprises of life and why

include adventures to Hawaii, Coldplay concerts,
Las Vegas trips and experiences at UNC.
