obituary Robert Bruce McCrickard (’02 MBA),
54, of Wintergreen Resort, Va., Oct. 1, 2016. During
a 21-year career with Exide Electronics, McCrickard
worked in manufacturing, engineering, sales and
marketing. His career took him to China for a few
years. Most recently, he was a senior director of
Intermec Corp. He was an Eagle Scout.
2003 update Robert Quinlyn Berry
III (’03 PhD) of Charlottesville has received the
Excellence in Teaching Award from the UNC School
of Education. Berry is a faculty member at the Curry
School of Education at the University of Virginia and
has received UVA’s All-University Teaching Award
and the statewide Mathematics Educator of the Year
Award. Twice she has won the Linking Research and
Practice Outstanding Publication Award from the
National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
2004 update Gloria J. Woods-Weeks
(’04 MSA) of Durham has received the Durham
Public Schools’ Principal of the Year Award. Woods-Weeks is principal of J.D. Clement Early College High
School. The school, with a 100 percent graduation
rate for each of the past four years, was named
one of Newsweek’s Top High Schools in America
for the last two years and received an A or A-plus
School Performance Grade from the state for three
