DAN SEARS/NEWS SERVICES
The University eliminated an estimated
556 class sections last fall and for this spring.
Registration for the spring semester was a little less convenient,
a little more stressful — the overall impact and how long
is improving faculty retention. At year’s end,
UNC was assessing how much grant
money went out the door
with departing faculty.
UNC has put off
building maintenance
to the tune
of $650 million;
$250 million is considered an
acceptable deferral. And the
sophisticated technology built
into new buildings eventually
could move them ahead of the
old ones on the priority list.
