Anne Gayle Ingram (’ 44 AB), 87, of Carrollton, Ga.;
May 20, 2011. Ingram retired as a professor of
physical education from the University of Maryland.
She studied dance with Martha Graham and oper-
ated her own dance studio, and she was an advo-
cate for women’s rights and women in sports, serv-
ing on a number of committees and commissions.
She served with the Army Signal Corps in the ’40s
and with the Army Special Services in the ’50s. ◆

Fla.; May 20, 2011. LaMotte, who retired as presi-
dent of a chemical products company, served in the

2011. Lawrence retired from the oil company he

Lilly retired from an independent corporate insur-

AB), 85, of Charleston, S.C.; April 30, 2011. Morrow
retired as a representative with Jefferson-Pilot Life
Insurance and was a 25-year member of the Million
Dollar Round Table. As an alumnus, he was president of the GAA’s Wilmington Carolina Club. At UNC,
he was on the men’s swim team, serving as co-cap-tain for two years, and belonged to Order of the
Grail, Phi Delta Theta and student government. ◆
Lillian Powell Parsons (’ 49 MSSW), 93, of Laurinburg; April 7, 2011. Parsons retired as a caseworker
with the Florida State Department of Social Services. ◆ C. Houston “Pat” Patterson Jr. (’ 46), 85, of
Chattanooga, Tenn.; Oct. 28, 2010. In his 42-year
career at the McCallie School, Patterson was a math
teacher, coach, dean of students and associate
headmaster. He was considered the father of McCallie’s outdoor programs, including a wilderness program and an academic enrichment camp. He
received McCallie’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in
the late ’80s. He served in the Navy in WWII. At
UNC, he was active in Campus Y. ◆ Ann Williams
“Rooney” Peacock (’ 41 AB), 90, of Clarksdale,
Miss.; April 1, 2011. Peacock was a Sunday school

John Fawcett Kenfield Jr. (’ 43, ’ 48 AB; ’ 49
MAEd), 89, of Tryon; Oct. 27, 2010. Kenfield
retired as tennis coach at Dartmouth College.
At UNC, he belonged to Chi Psi and was on
the men’s tennis team. In WWII, he was a
pilot in the Army Air Forces and received the
Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf
Cluster and the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf
Clusters.
