’99 Archie Wilson Ervin (’99 PhD) of Atlanta has been named the inaugural vice president for institute diversity at
the Georgia Institute of Technology. Ervin’s career at
UNC began in 1986 when he was appointed assis-
tant to the vice chancellor for university affairs;
most recently he served as UNC’s associate provost
for diversity and multicultural affairs. ◆ Travis Earl

a doctorate in educational leadership from East Car-
olina University. Lewis was honored as author of an
Outstanding Graduate Student Paper by the South-
