Patti Worden, a graduate of UNC-Greensboro and Yale, married Holden ;orp in 1988. Today Patti is Holden’s right hand, supporting him in his work as Chancellor,
walking alongside him and their two children, John, 15 and
Emma, 12. “My goal is to be the grounding force for my family,”
she said.
On the UNC campus, Patti champions PlayMakers Repertory
Company, where she was once on faculty, and Build A Block,
a student-driven initiative to build Habitat homes for University
employees in 2011. “We are an outward-looking University,
trying to make the world a better place,” Patti said. “But as
Holden says, we can’t solve the world’s greatest problems,
such as a;ordable housing, while ignoring the problems in our
own backyard.”
Patti also enjoys serving on the Carolina Women’s Leadership
Council, helping to connect women back to the University. “I see
my role as a type of bridge-builder or matchmaker, if you will. I
love the Council’s work of bringing powerful women — alumni,
faculty, sta;, or students — together to exchange ideas. We have
the power to achieve so many positive things.”
Carolina women are students, faculty and staff. They
