’ 75 James Andrew Wynn Jr. (’ 75 ABJO) of Cary has won confirmation to the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, his second
nomination to the post. Wynn was first nominated
by President Bill Clinton in 1999; the nomination was
blocked by then-U.S. Sen. Jesse Helms.
’ 76 William Clyde Kempner (’ 76 AB) of Roslyn Heights, N. Y., has received the Long and Faithful Service Medal and the
Recruiting Medal from the New York Naval Militia.
Kempner serves as operations officer for the New
York State Southern Command and recently was
elected vice president of the Albertson, N. Y., fire
department, where he is a 15-year veteran. u
Stephen Douglas Poe (’ 76 JD) of Winston-Salem has
been elected president of the Reynolda Rotary Club.
Poe is a lawyer and director at the law firm of Bell,
Davis & Pitt PA, concentrating in banking and com-
mercial law. u S. Steven Potter (’ 76 PhD) of Cincin-
nati has published Designer Genes: A New Era in the
Evolution of Man, a book that discusses how cutting-
edge genetic science will speed and transform evolu-
tion and the moral choices involved. Potter is a pro-
fessor in the developmental biology division of
Children’s Hospital. u Dr. Deborah Lynn Radisch
(’ 76 BSMTC, ’ 76 CMT, ’ 97 MPH) of Apex has been
promoted to chief medical examiner for North Car-
olina. Radisch also is a clinical associate professor of
medicine in the department of pathology and labora-
tory medicine at UNC’s medical school.

Jack Henry Cox Jr. (’ 76 AB), 57, of Charlotte; June 22,
2010. At the time of his death, Cox was in southern
Laos, working on a crocodile recovery project for the
Wildlife Conservation Society. He served in the Peace
Corps and had continued working on environmental
programs in Nepal, New Guinea, Indonesia and other
countries. To listen to a radio broadcast of a UNC
basketball game while in New Guinea, he once took
a boat at 4 a.m. to a river where he could get radio
reception. u Thomas O’Connor High (’ 76 MSLS), 90,
of Woodruff, S.C.; May 25, 2010. High was a minister
in the Baptist Church.
