Students
Families Celebrate
Carolina Ties With
Legacy Pinnings
PHOHTOS BY DAN SEARS ’ 74
More than 460 alumni, family members and friends took part in
the GAA’s two Legacy Pinning ceremonies on Oct. 3. The events, held
each fall during the annual Family
Weekend, are an occasion for families
with Carolina alumni and a current
student enrolled to recognize that
shared heritage and the connection
they feel to the University. After the
morning and afternoon ceremonies,
families gathered under the Davie
Poplar to take photos.
At top, Amy Grigg ’ 83 adjusts the pin for her daughter, freshman
Marjorie Anne Grigg. Above, freshman Cliff Swanson, his dad,
David Swanson ’ 77, and mother, Courtney Swanson, join the rest
of the Legacy Pinning participants in singing the fight song and
alma mater.
The bench under the Davie Poplar made
the perfect photo spot to commemorate
a day of tradition for the legacy families.
