The latest class of GAA Scholars arrived on campus in August, each student awarded a $1,500 renewable
grant. The program was established in 2001 with a
$500,000 endowment from the GAA. The scholarships,
administered by UNC’s Office of Scholarships and
Student Aid, give preference to children of alumni.
Academic credentials, SAT scores and extracurricular
activities are taken into consideration.
Top recipients, based on high school performance
and SAT score, are designated as Douglas S. Dibbert
Scholars. Those were established in 2007, when the
GAA Board of Directors added $50,000 to the scholarship program in honor of GAA President Doug
Dibbert ’ 70 as he marked 25 years of service to the
association.
These are the five GAA Scholars for the class of 2014.
