“THE faculty and coaches GAVE ME
THE CONFIDENCE TO
TAKE MY IDEA forward. ”
When Amit Singh arrived in
Raleigh, N.C., from India in 1997
with a global IT outsourcing firm, he
already knew he wanted to start his
own company.
He felt the best way to do that was to
attend a top-tier U.S. business school.
Singh chose UNC Kenan-Flagler’s
MBA for Executives and enrolled in
Softlaunch, a version of the Carolina
Entrepreneurial Initiative’s successful
Launching the Venture program
offered to Executive MBA students.
At the end of the business-planning and
coaching program, Singh pitched his
venture along with 15 others to a group
of expert judges. His was selected the
most viable business model.
“This gave me so much
confidence that I quit my job
right out of school and started
Spectraforce,” Singh says.
Six years later, Spectraforce
employs more than 600 people
in the United States and India
offering consulting, staffing, and
outsourcing services to clients
and industries worldwide.
Inc. magazine recently named
Spectraforce one of the fastest-growing
companies in the country. And it all
started with help from UNC.
