A;er graduation, Ellen took her Carolina journalism degree to New York City. She spent 10 years there, working in advertising — from answering phones to
managing million-dollar campaigns.
Today, a;er marrying, moving to Winston-Salem, and having
two daughters, Ellen runs “the world’s smallest advertising
agency” from her home. She says she’s constantly learning new
skills as technology emerges and changes. “Now I’m working
on web sites, creating Facebook pages for small businesses and
teaching 65-year-old business owners how to tweet.”
She’s reconnected with UNC through the Carolina Women’s
Leadership Council. “;e council has really pulled me back
into life at the University,” she said. “It’s so exciting to see
everything that’s going on.”
Ellen supports the UNC School of Journalism and Mass
Communication. She says, “In my life, there have been so
many people who li;ed me up and gave me an opportunity.
Now it’s time for me to give back.”
