Chicago has received the 2009 Maurice Weigle
Exceptional Young Lawyer Award from the Chicago
Bar Foundation in recognition of his work representing indigent individuals, devoting more than 1,000
hours to pro bono matters in 2008. Vail, an associate with Jenner & Block, is a member of the firm’s

Christopher Walton (’ 99 BSMS) of Charlotte has
been named 2008-09 Young Lawyer of the Year by
the Mecklenburg County Bar Young Lawyers Section.
Walton has been elected District 9 representative to
the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division
Assembly. u Caroline Willingham (’ 99 AB) of Boulder, Colo., graduated summa cum laude from the
accelerated bachelor’s of nursing program at the University of Colorado. Willingham has been admitted to
the graduate nurse residency program at the University of Colorado Hospital, where she is a registered
nurse in the surgical intensive care unit.

Award. Bremer, associate publisher of The Sun, will
use the $25,000 grant to travel to North Africa to
explore and write about family life with a focus on
the concepts of femininity and freedom for women in
Muslim and Western cultures. u William Foster
Hayes (’00 AB) of Delaware, Ohio, has joined the
Coalition for Christian Outreach. Hayes will be working with students at Ohio Wesleyan University as
assistant chaplain. u Linda Findley Kozlowski (’00
MA) of Hong Kong has been named director, international corporate communications, with Alibaba.com,
a business-to-business e-commerce company. u
Andrew James McKay (’00 BSBA) of Raleigh has
achieved the certified financial planner designation.
