Education Foundation to support her research on the
effect of body shape and weight on the development
and progression of knee arthritis. Abbate is a doctoral student in epidemiology and an MD candidate

been named director of assessments and tools on
the national strategy team of Teach For America.
Geller will develop strategy that addresses how best
to measure student outcomes for Teach For America

UNC as a graduate student in the Gillings School of

received the 2009 Kitty Ernst Award from the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Likis is the director of
graduate studies for the Institute of Medicine and
Public Health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center,
contributed to Women’s Gynecological Health and is
editor in chief of the Journal of Midwifery and
