on Every Note
Anoop Desai ’08 has traveled a
strange and public road since the former Clef Hanger appeared in shorts
and flip-flops in his audition for
American Idol. In mid-April, he was
one of seven contestants and was
known simply as “Anoop” by the millions who watched and voted each
week. He stayed in the running much
longer than predicted, and when he
was voted off as Idol was winnowed to
the top five, he said, “I have to look at
the bright side — I’m going back to
Chapel Hill.” He is booked with other
contestants for months of concerts on
the road, and alumni continue to track
him at alumni.unc.edu/facebook.
