Jim Lampley ’ 71 usually is shining the spotlight on others. For
more than three decades as a network television sportscaster, and
with an array of credits in TV, radio, movies and the Internet,
Lampley has been one of America’s most accomplished broadcasters,
including service with ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNBC and HBO. He
has covered a range of sports, from college football to the Olympics
and boxing. But in October, about 100 members and guests of the
New York Carolina Club turned out to honor Lampley and help
raise money for the club’s Richard Jenrette ’ 51 Scholarship Fund.
Fellow broadcaster Draggan Mihailovich ’ 83, a producer for CBS’
60
Minutes who also has spent a fair amount of time on the Olympic
beat during his career, introduced Lampley at the reception in the
University Club in Manhattan. Mihailovich is also a member of the
GAA Board of Directors.
