popular program offered.
Sink and one other UNC student lived
with a Spanish family, as all the UNC students were encouraged to do. This does make
the program cost more — on top of room
and board, students also pay their host family
a fee — but Sink says only one student in
her program chose to get his own apartment.
For Sink, living with a Spanish señora and
experiencing daily Spanish family life was
one of the best parts of her experience.
“I think we got about the best señora in
the program,” Sink said. “She just went above
and beyond her scope of duty. She would
drive us places, she made all of our meals.
