Blacksburg, Va., has been named director of Virginia
Tech’s University Honors Program. Peyton Tucker
Reed (’ 86 AB) of Los Angeles has been invited to join
the voting roster of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts
and Sciences, which selects Oscar winners. Reed’s
latest film, Yes Man, is set for release in December.
Eric Shaun Schneider Sr. (’ 86 AB) of Pittsboro has
been promoted to captain in the Navy Reserve. He is
the administrator for UNC’s Neuroscience Center.

July 24, 2008. A CPA, he was in finance with All
Kinds of Minds. At UNC, he was a member of Tau

’ 87 Rhonda Hubbard Beatty (’ 87 ABJO) of
Raleigh has been named co-chair, with
Patricia Merritt Wilkins (’ 84 BSIR), of
the 2009 Governor’s Inaugural Ball hosted by the
Junior League of Raleigh. The ball is set for Jan. 10
at the Raleigh Convention Center. Thomas Allen
Bennett Jr. (’ 87 AB) of Concord has been named
senior vice president, client development officer in
the Charlotte office of Paragon Bank. Dr. Thomas
Erik Paulson (’ 87 MD) of Wilmington has been
named clinical assistant professor and pediatric
intensivist at the New Hanover Medical Center pediatrics department.

’88 Richard Jones Archie (’88 AB, ’ 91 JD) of
Kinston has been named treasurer of
the council of real property section of
the N.C. Bar Association. Archie is a lawyer with
White & Allen PA, where he concentrates his practice
in the areas of business and residential and commercial real estate. Glenn Gillen (’88 AB) of
Durham has won two Sir Walter Raleigh Awards from
the Raleigh Public Relations Society: a Gold Award
and a Best in Division Award in the More Bang for
the Buck category. Gillen recently published an article in The Public Relations Strategist. He is an

Lynn Gamble (’88 AB), 61, of Kannapolis; June 1,
2008. Gamble was a contractor with Career Co. After
internships with the Orange County Rape Crisis
Center and UNC’s Oral History Program, she worked
in community pediatrics with the UNC School of
Medicine. She also worked for the Child Psychiatric
Institute of the John Umstead State Hospital in
Butner. She served in the Air Force.
