“Of course, I have a sentimental attachment to
Carolina. But beyond that, I think it’s quite
a visionary institution. It’s so impressive, so
global, and for such a great price.”
That’s why Aurelia and her husband, William, support
Carolina. During the Carolina First Campaign, Aurelia
chose to direct their gift toward an American Studies
professorship in the College of Arts and Sciences. “I took
a traditional liberal arts path. American Studies has so

gets a lot of attention, so that’s why I wanted to support it.
“The Women’s Leadership Council has widened my
horizons. It’s created a way for me (and others) to connect
with what current students are doing right now. They
amaze me. In addition to their very ambitious academic
pursuits, they’re studying abroad, doing internships, and
reaching out to others. Hearing about them makes me
want to be a student now, and makes me want to support
their efforts.”
