has been elected secretary-treas-urer of the N.C. Association of Orthodontists.
Anthony Eugene Costa Jr. (’ 84, ’ 88
MRP) of Washington, D.C., has been named
the 2008 Walter Washington District Champion by the U.S. General Services Administration Public Buildings Service. Costa serves as
deputy commissioner for the service, managing
a portfolio of more than 8,600 owned and

has been named associate provost for information and technology services and chief information officer at UNC-Charlotte. Neal
Franklin Fowler (’ 84 BSPHR, ’ 88 MBA) of
Raleigh has been named CEO for Liquidia
Technologies, a company that develops medical
products using microscopic particles. Fowler
joins UNC chemistry Professor Joseph DeSi-mone, co-founder and chief scientific officer,
and UNC adjunct Professor Seth Rudnick,
chairman of the board of directors, on the
executive team. Gordon Burns Grigg (’ 84
AB) of Franklin, Tenn., is the new club leader
for the Nashville Carolina Club.

Darlene D. Bolon (’ 84 BSIR), 46, of
Raleigh;April 11, 2008. Bolon was the owner
of Brain Gym in Raleigh, based on the concept of educational kinesiology. Thomas
Scott Meckelnburg (’ 84 BSGEO), 46, of
Abingdon, Md.; March 9, 2008. Meckelnburg
was a geohydrologist for the Army’s Center
for Health Promotion and Preventive
Medicine. He was president of the Harford Ski
Club for many years. He was on the swim team
at UNC.

Andrews (’ 85 AB) of Sparta has
received the Special Citizen’s
Merit Award from the N.C. Counseling Association. Andrews is the CEO of New River
