End of Life Care Leadership Award given
annually by the Carolinas Center for Hospice
& End of Life Care. Stinson is medical director

(’ 81, ’ 82 AB) of Charlotte has
been named Green Government
Leader by the Charlotte Business Journal in the
inaugural Green Awards. Samuelson, House
representative for N.C. District 104, serves on
every standing environmental committee in
the N.C. House and was the primary sponsor
for House Bill 1912, School Bus Retrofits in
Nonattainment Areas, a pilot program to clean
up exhaust in and around school buses in
counties with poor air quality. Pam Cindy
Silberman (’ 81 JD, ’ 97 DRPH) of Durham
has received the Ned Brooks Award for Public
Service from the Carolina Center for Public
Service at UNC. Silberman, a research associate professor in the UNC School of Public
Health and president and CEO of the N.C.
Institute of Medicine, was recognized for her
role in research supporting legislation that has
led to the N.C. child health insurance law and
dental-care access and insurance coverage for
low-income populations.
