Sing, You Tar Heel Voices
Members of the Tar Heel Voices, Carolina’s oldest co-ed a cappella
group, usually say they have “ 16 hearts, one voice.” Well, there were a few
more hearts added to that voice in April, when alumni came back to celebrate the group’s 20th anniversary. Over the years, THV has entertained
on campus and in the community with its eclectic repertoire, from charity and sports events to weddings and even the Governor’s Inaugural Ball.
THV also records an album every other year and goes on tour across the
country annually. But April 11-13 was set aside for Chapel Hill. ■
A General Assembly
There were a few more farewells and
hellos than usual at the 18th annual
Legislative Reception, hosted on June 4
by the GAA’s Tar Heel Network, as the
more than 170 legislators and UNC
administrators, students, alumni and friends
thanked retiring Chancellor James Moeser
and welcomed incoming Chancellor
Holden Thorp ’ 86. The annual gathering
at Raleigh’s Cardinal Club is an opportunity to discuss Carolina’s needs and vision
and thank lawmakers for their support. ■
At the Tar Heel Voices barbecue,

on the menu. During the weekend,
THV alumni also helped serve
meals for current members as
they prepared for their annual
concert. Alumni and friends —
including, from the front, Heather
Sheehan ’00, Justin Dixon ’02,
Isaac Moan ’04, John McGrew ’03
and Cami Kotsionis ’01 — had a
chance to visit some of their
favorite places on Franklin Street.
