“Robin” Read Jr. (’ 68 AB) of Portsmouth,
N.H., has been named co-chair of the New
Hampshire Environmentalists for Obama by
the New Hampshire Obama for President
Campaign. Read, a former member of the
New Hampshire House of Representatives,
was research director for the successful 1996
gubernatorial campaign for Jeanne Shaheen,
the first female governor of New Hampshire.

Kaiserslautern, Germany;Aug. 15, 2007.
Annecke taught English and history in
Lubeck, Geesthacht and Kaiserslautern for 31
years. He retired in 2002. Alexander Gow
III (’ 68 MEd), 71, of Harrisburg; Sept. 9, 2007.
Gow, a longtime resident of Charlotte, was an
academic counselor at Piedmont Community
College for almost 35 years. He served in the
Army in Germany. Ruth Douglas Jacokes
(’ 68 BSN), 79, of Raleigh; Oct. 7, 2007.
Jacokes was a nursing supervisor at UNC
Hospitals. Earlier in her career, she was director
of nursing at John Umstead Hospital. In retirement, she volunteered at Rex Hospital.

UNC. Ellison, president of The Ellison Co.
Inc., is a former member of the UNC Board
of Trustees and has served on the GAA Board
of Directors (2000-03). Tom Moser (’ 69,
’ 70 BSBA) of Charlotte has been named to the
board of directors of New York Life Insurance
Co. Moser plans to join the board after retiring
as vice chairman of KPMG in February.
Ernest Finney Patterson Jr. (’ 69, ’91 AB) of
Carrboro has been selected to serve on the
search committee for the next chancellor of
UNC. Patterson is a technical support specialist, network manager for UNC’s biology
department and chairman of the Employee
Forum. Bobby Lon Yount (’ 69 BSBA) of
San Jose, Calif., has been named to the Arts
Commission for the City of San Jose. Yount is
a partner with Retirement Capital Strategies.
