Mary Elizabeth Spear (' 87 AB), 40, of Santa
Barbara, Calif., Feb. 26, 2005. Spear was a
criminal defense lawyer in the Santa Barbara
County public defenders office for eight years.
While at UNC, she spent a year abroad in
Montpellier, France. After graduation, she
received a Rotary scholarship to study law in
Liege, Belgium. She was a Morehead Scholar
at UNC, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. She also
was active with
publications and the Outdoor Club.
