Rierson a teacher in N.C and Indiana, retired from teaching and directing the orchestra at Grimsley High School in Greensboro in 1990. An Eagle Scout, he was a scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts. Rigsbee was an Army veteran and an All-State high school athlete. Dr. James H . Rogers (' 55 DDS), 73, of Chapel Hill, dental surgeon, retired Air Force Colonel; Jan. 28, 2001. Rogers retired in 1984 from the Air Force after 33 years. He served in WWII in the Army Air Corps as a dental lab techni- cian and in Vietnanl with the Air Force. He was the recipient of the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Good Conduct, Humanitarian Service,WWIIVictory Medal, National Defense Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Medal and the Air Force Organization Excellence Award. Dr. Johnny LeRoy Young (' 50 MA, ' 59
PhD), 72, of Salisbury, retired professor of mod-

2000. An Army veteran, Young was one of the
first recipients in North Carolina of the Ful-
bright Award for a year's study abroad. Earlier,
he had taught French and Spanish at UNC
and Kentucky Wesleyan College.
